Experts say single parents should not post photos or information about their children on their online dating profiles. Detective Inspector for Task Force Argos, Jon Rouse, works within a specialised branch of the Queensland Police Service responsible for investigating online child exploitation and abuse. Det-Insp Rouse said the taskforce had encountered onlinf where child sex offenders had targeted single mothers on dating sites. They look for women who post photos of their children or mention them on their profiles. Det-Insp Rouse said child sex offenders had then become involved with the online predators on dating sites and gained their trust.
is online dating safeSexual predators are actively targeting potential victims through online dating sites and hook-up apps, as rape and sexual assault figures in Queensland hit a five-year high. Key points. More than 30,000 sexual offences, including rape, occurred in Queensland in the past five years The number of rapes may be higher because some survivors choose not to report their attack Police say any information supplied by a victim may help identify and even convict a serial offender Police and sexual assault counsellors said they were working with more survivors who had suffered an attack after meeting someone either on a website or via a mobile app. One of those is 42-year-old Jane — not her real name — who met a man at a local pub after the pair courted one another through an online dating service. Jane first found the man online and the pair became friends. When she woke up and when she went to bed she would receive a sweet message from the man on her mobile phone.
